Position Overview:

As a 2nd or 3rd Year Landscape Apprentice, you will continue to build on the foundational skills you have acquired in your first year or two. You will work under the guidance of experienced landscapers to gain hands-on experience in various aspects of landscape construction. This role is designed to help you develop the skills necessary to become a proficient landscape technician and further grow within the company.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Landscape Installation:

    • Assist in the installation of plants, trees, and shrubs according to design plans.
    • Help with the installation of hardscape elements such as patios, walkways, and retaining walls.
    • Learn and apply proper techniques for soil preparation, planting, and irrigation.
  2. Equipment Operation:

    • Operate landscaping equipment including concrete saws, jackhammers, blowers and much more.
    • Assist in the setup and use of irrigation systems and other specialised equipment.
  3. Site Preparation and Clean-Up:

    • Prepare job sites by clearing debris, setting up tools, and organising materials.
    • Maintain a clean and organised work environment throughout the project.
    • Follow safety protocols and ensure the proper handling and storage of tools and equipment.
  4. Customer Interaction:

    • Communicate effectively with clients and team members.
    • Represent the company professionally in all interactions and maintain a positive attitude.
  5. Learning and Development:

    • Attend scheduled training sessions and workshops to enhance skills and knowledge.
    • Seek feedback and guidance from senior staff to improve performance and understanding.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Currently enroled in a Landscape Apprenticeship Program or equivalent vocational training.
  • Experience: At least one year of previous experience as a first-year landscape apprentice or in a related field.
  • Skills:
    • Basic knowledge of landscaping techniques and plant care.
    • Ability to operate and maintain landscaping tools and equipment.
    • Good physical fitness and stamina for outdoor work.
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
    • Effective communication skills and a willingness to learn.
  • Certifications: Valid driver’s licence and ability to obtainÌýother relevant certifications if required.
