MEGT celebrates 700,000 apprenticeship completions

15 August, 2024

MEGT has celebrated the milestone of supporting 700,000 apprentices and trainees in completing their qualifications.

23-year-old electrician Rhys Caddy became the 700,000th to complete and was presented his certificate of completion at a special event in May.

The event was attended by Member for Fraser, Dr Daniel Mulino MP, who told attendees that Rhys’ story was a great example of why apprentices and their employers play such a vital role in the Australian workforce.

“700,000 completed apprenticeships is a huge number, but Rhys puts a human face to that achievement, and I’m thrilled he has a big career ahead of him”, Mr Mulino said.

“Apprentices and trainees are vital to Australia’s economic growth and prosperity. By improving the quality and completion rates for people undertaking apprenticeships, we can ensure that more Australians have an opportunity to retrain and upskill for the future economy.”

Rhys' remarkable journey began four years ago when he began his electrical apprenticeship with employer Current Group Pty Ltd, who have employed over 60 apprentices over the past 15 years. Rhys’ successful completion serves as an inspiration to the next generation of Australian workers and is testament to MEGT's commitment to providing expert guidance and support to Australian apprentices.
